Ian Trase joined Flagship Pioneering in 2022 as a Senior Machine Learning Scientist, focusing on large language models and agentic systems for computational biology. With a background in machine learning, mechanical engineering, and biotechnology, he holds over 20 peer-reviewed publications and patents. Ian earned his Ph.D. in Engineering from Dartmouth College, where he was an Innovation Fellow, and his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Princeton University. Prior to Flagship, he worked as a research engineer at Aptima Inc. and a Technology Associate at Bridgewater Associates.
